Identity Is A Construct

If identity is a construct, then who you are is just a complex idea formed from a number of simpler elements. Maybe no one can really know who we are, because we make it up. We are constantly piecing together parts of our lives, to build something whole.  Maybe, like so many other things, we leave out small details in our calculations. Now how is this important to stardoll? A shocking gossip post by JosieMae8445, made me realize just how much.

(from .pease.'s presentation)

Josi's post shows evidence that .Pease. (Linnea), and Dog_Boy96 (Linus), may be the same person. Normally someone having two accounts is no biggie,  but Linus, and Linnea are both well known people on stardoll, and for them to be the same person would be just as impressive as finding out that Star_Awards and EliteNew were the same person!

In the comments of the post Josi's assumptions are confirmed. They are the same person. One boy Linus. So Linnea's identity was a construct of Linus', with the small detail of genitalia left out. oops!

Linnea's presentation now reads:

It is very sincere and heart felt, not scandalous at all. But this revelation does stir up some thoughts in the back of my mind.

How many people lie about their identity on stardoll on the daily? This is a virtual website, so it's much easier to reconstruct your identity here. People take advantage of the ability to simply leave parts of themselves locked outside of the screen. Like their conscience. The truth is whether you sign your name as anonymous or not, it makes no difference. On this virtual website, you can be who ever you want to be, no stings attached. That is, unless you tie them yourself.

  1. I use this nickname (Kittie) I made up for myself. How come? Well, my name is not the normal everyday name, and don't creeps trying to search me. (It is much safer however to use a nickname instead of your real name, though.)

  2. To be honest, I felt like I knew this all along..

The fact that one, they have similar me-doll faces, two, both Swedish, and 3, I really always thought IF they were the same, Linus would be the real name and male as the gender because of how Linus is always around and always on Skype opposed to 'Linnea' who was never on Skype and never around that often either.

But its not like its surprising for me at all. Regardless if I thought this or not, there are so many people with a dual account anyway.

  3. I feel so blinded for never suspecting this. I speak to Linus often and have grown to adore him as a friend. However, knowing that he constructed an alternate identity makes no difference to me. We often say that this website is just virtual and that we shouldn't take it so seriously, yet accusations are thrown when someone creates multiples accounts and uses one as another creative outlet for themselves. I still adore Linus as much as I did before I read this. And I would feel that way for anyone, whether they be a friend or not. As long as their intentions were true to themselves and they weren't plotting to commit harm on someone else.

  4. Linnea is such a sweetheart. An alternative identity makes no difference, I hope others feel exactly the same. :D

  5. I really liked Linnea, she and I talked a bit, and she agreed to judge for my modeling competition. I don't mind if Linus was Linnea, it just matters that the person was nice.

  6. I'm not going to lie, it's sort-of weird knowing that, when I was talking to Linnea, I was talking to another one of my good friends too, Linus. This however, doesn't change my opinion on Linus, and I still think he's an amazing person. I just have that confused thought in the back of my head, still trying to get around it all.

It's just strange knowing that Linnea isn't real, and is a made up virtual character, never the less, I still adore him/them as friends.

  7. The thing i find most amazing is the fact Linus has been able to 'bring up' two accounts on his own - making them as succesfull and amdiring as they are. Within my post, i may have made quite a big deal, but i did NOT jump to saying it WAS true. My intention was never to hurt someone and from that post, Linus has been strong enough to let out that he was also 'Linnea'.

Everyone creates multiple accounts - some for their own enjoyment and some for the harm of others. Take all these 'bully' accounts, all they do is harm other people and upset them. We must know that it is probably someone we all know pretty well on that profile. At least Linus did not do that - he portrayed beauty, individuality, fame and kindness. :)

  8. All these sweet comments just make me smile so great. I'm glad it became accepted without any harm, for I've really wanted to tell for years now, my courage has just not been big enough.

I kinda agree with you Kim though. d: It felt like a small part of myself dying last night, meanwhile the other one grew larger.

  9. I didn't mind at all. I also feel silly for never noticing, the other day I even wondered if they were close friends when I saw Kharma on the presentation of .pease.

But to know two such wonderful people are the same, just shows how great he is. Everyone makes mistakes and I can see how it would be hard to reveal yourself. It must be a relief to you, Linus. x

  11. It is just a matter of self-respect to be who you are because you were born that way. And I am not trying to judge her since I don't know what her reasons are or what she needed but if you look carefully in real life you can see that someone is always fake and what is beautiful is to accept who you are and be happy.

  12. It's quite obvious from the very start. But I guess, at least both of these characters are nice enough for other people to like them both and not mind the fact that they lied.

  16. I guess it's cool. He or she never did anything to gravely hurt anyone. This is virtual. The fact that we are all residing on 14-room houses is a lie on its own so what the fuck.

    Nice post Lia

  18. I'm glad I had a chance to talk to them both by talking to Linnea.. I'm still shocked about this thing even when it's old thing now.. I thought I'm getting to know Linnea and later I notice that she was fake.. umm.. Anyways she was the friendliest person I ever talked to. Thank you Linus. :)

  19. Linus, nothing is wrong with me, but everything is wrong with you. You are a boy but you prefer to get girl dolls. What's the problem then? Might as well get a male doll and dress it up with girl clothes because that's what you are in real life. A queer abomination to our race. LOLZ!

  20. I don't care. Linus or Linnea... there's just one person behind that computer and those dolls anyway. And that is a good person. So shut the fuck up Freaky'Boo

  22. @FreakMeBoo

Oh god, not another one of you people.

Stop calling people fags, or do you want me to openly call you a stupid homophobic bitch?

I, as an openly Gay girl, think there's nothing wrong with him wanting a girl doll, hell, I'd love to have a male medoll as I despise being female.

Anyways, it is extremely easy to use a different identity online, hell, my names not even Yumi, not even close, and just like Kittie, my name is not the normal name. So, I just came up with Yumi, which means Beautiful in Japanese, hoping desperately it would give me a boost in self-esteem.

The only closest thing to my name I can admit is that it's Evy. Just Evy, because most of my friends can't even spell my actual name.

  23. Oh look fag! Another "fairy" coming to your defense. Tinkerbell! ROFL!

  24. Yumi, I don't care you Lesbo. Just go back looking at pictures of girls and play with yourself.

  26. I respect him for telling the truth! (:

Whenever I spoke to Linnea I thought 'she' was really nice so I'm guessing Linus is too :D

  27. @Freakmesomethingsomething - Just shut up already, homophobic harassment is illegal in tons of different countries. In fact, I think that I might have the right to report you and have your IP address found ^_^

Looks like you're DEFINITELY going to succeed in life, LOL!

You're probably some 50 year old religion obsessed freak living in his mother's attic trolling on 12 year old girls for some sick enjoyment. Go do squats in a cucumber field.
