Stardoll Fashion Week: Is It Really Worth The Wait?

Recently I was talking to a friend of mine, Robyn(evermore1girl), the owner of her very own Stardoll orientated fashion line SD Roses and she asked me, 'Is Savage still on?..' And well it was so funny to hear that since the last time I even looked at the blog and the clothing for Savage was in August, when I finished it.

Well everything but the runway since well.. I had a small bit of hope that maybe Becka(Psychotic-Freak) would have chosen Savage and so I was waiting to see if my hope was true and I could add that simple, notorious 'Stardoll Fashion Week' banner over it.

But after a week of being done with my own personal line, I started to ignore my hopes of SFW and eventually, I just forgot about.

So then months later, here I am today thinking, 'What should I even do with Savage now? Should I wait or should I post it myself?'

And really the initial thought is to just screw waiting and do it yourself, and the fact that I am not even positive I even have a shot at it just helps the pull to that chose of action even further than I thought beforehand.

And then a thought popped up in my head, 'What about the tons of other applicants?' Since if I remember correctly, the only official thing that was released about SFW was the sign up sheet, which was in the beginning of June just an f.y.i., and that was about it. So, then it made me curious, how many people have finished their lines/magzines? How many people have been waiting patiently for it? How many just gave up waiting? And how many haven't even started?

So many questions bombarded my mind and all I did.. was laugh. Though I would feel bad if I heard someone is really serious about Stardoll Fashion Week and is starting to become angered at Becka (like some people I know), but really, I always need to remind some of my Stardoll friends that, 'Hey, its only a website, you don't need to dedicate your life to it, and neither does Becka.' And to be honest, you can't say it is delayed since she never said when the official dates for it was anyway, for all we know if could be planned for December!

So now it still left me thinking, what to do, what to do, all those graphics I did.. all the ones others have probably did also. I don't really mind if there is or isn't one overall, but it would be nice to showcase mine and others 'creations'.

Robyn suggested that there should be a Mini-SFW for those who do have completed brands ready to be viewed and tired of the wait and not knowing if they even have a shot.

So what about you guys? Whats you opinions about the Stardoll Fashion Week at this point and time?

Love, Dei

  2. Even though SFW is such a big thing, you'll probably get your project more attention right now than what you would in SFW. Mainly because there is so many other lines and magazines to share the spotlight with in SFW, and there is hardly anything releasing now. More attention to yours! :D

I'm waiting until mid November, if nothing is announced myself and a few friends will maybe do a many Fashion Weekend, I don't know...

  3. I think it would be great to have a mini SFW! Maybe we could host it here...?

  4. Why not talk to Becca and organize it with a finalized date so that anyone who isn't quite finished has a deadline? It could still work, you'd just have to give it another month or so so people can finish :)

  5. I think someone should talk to Becka. Clearly, she has either forgotten about it or she hasn't got enough time for SD anymore which I can completely understand.
Someone else should take it over and run SFW.
It's a big task but I'm sure a lot of people on Stardoll would love to take part in such a huge thing.
I'd love to help out as I've never really taken notice of SFW until last year and I think it's a fabulous opportunity for people to get their designs out there.

  6. Quite honestly I feel a bit bad for Becka. Mainly because she is responsible for such a huge Stardoll event. She is human, like the rest of us, and is probably just as busy. And when SFW isn't on track, she's automatically the one to blame. I believe that she should assemble some sort of back up team to handle things as she would when she isn't available.

And though we keep reiterating the fact that Stardoll and it's affiliated projects are just an online thing and we shouldn't regard them with such high amounts of importance - the fact is that the real time we spend working on magazines, clothing lines, and general projects is taken away from our real life. So it should be understandable that we get irked when things are postponed or don't go as planned.

I do hope that Becka can scrounge up some free time to get SFW back on track. Because as this point, it's the only thing left to cling to. It's Dollywood's last chance to make a comeback.

  7. I forgot about that thing. Whoever created it was pretty clever, but I think it's bound to crash and fail at some point soon.

  8. HAHA SHIT! I was thinking the EXACT same thing! I do agree with Aislin, however if you're starting a project, maybe you should had a proper schedule especially if your project is as huge as SFW.

  9. I finished the summer issue of my magazine, but as I waited, it began to turn to fall, so it was never released and now it's too late to release the summer issue. I'm not even going to worry about it anymore! If Becka puts me in it(when or if it happens) then I'll do another issue and a few graphics. But until then, I'm setting my date and releasing it when I set it.

  10. @Austin

Thank you for not leaving a decent comment on the ACTUAL post, and talking about something completely off-topic instead.

    Anyways...

It would be great to have a SFW-esque event on MDM! Of course, my graphics are laughable, so I won't participate, but SFW is interesting for people like me to watch!

  14. Your doll looks nice Dei :)

Thanks for the mention. I am not angry at Becka, if I had something as big as that and no time to do it, real life would always take priority.

However it was one of the few things I had left to look forward to on sd.
