Limited Edition: Losing its Luster

Limited Edition has become an iconic collection for Stardoll and its members. The allure of a quality item being sold in limited quantities, at high prices, drew everyone in. Everyone, including myself.

Since the dawn of my Stardoll days, I followed Limited Edition collections with a hungry desire in my eye. I was so eager to get my hands on every piece. The brand name alone was enough to capture my full attention. And while there were some great pieces being sold via LE, I wasn't so much concerned with the clothing as I was with the fact that it was Limited Edition.

I suffered much disappointment from missing collection after collection. With real life standing in the way, I couldn't compete with other users that stayed up past their bedtime just to get their hands on a newly released batch of LE. That all changed when I was able to snag some great pieces from the first Limited Edition Decor collection.

I was overjoyed with excitement as I thoughtfully placed the new items in my suite. I relished in the glory of finally catching a collection. At that point I was more hooked than ever. I began paying close attention to Stardoll blogs that released spoilers for LE, and I waited impatiently for a new collection to spring up.

When the 'feathers' collection rolled into StarPlaza, I pounced on my laptop and hastily made purchases before the items were sold out. While there was only one item that stuck out to me, a feathered bag, I bought many other things without regret. That regret sank in about a month later when I tried piecing together outfits with my first LE clothing items. I soon realized that I didn't desire the clothing as much as I had led myself to believe. In fact, I couldn't wait for the day when I was able to sell my LE in my bazaar.

This morning when I logged in and saw the new LE, my heart raced a little faster as I scurried to Starplaza to check out the new items. I quickly drug over a dozen items to dressing room and prepared to click the 'buy' button, until I realized that I would most likely never use any of these items. And that when I looked at them a bit closer, there wasn't much I even liked. Quite frankly, I have become more attached to cheap accessories and shoes that I can use over and over again to make hundreds of outfits. So why waste my money on things with a nice label but no wearability?

Never again will I stalk the blogs in hopes of catching a glimpse of a new Limited Edition collection.  I'll probably never own more than twenty Limited Edition items. And that's just fine with me, because I'll have so much more money to spend on cheap shoes and accessories that will last me a Stardoll lifetime.

What are you opinions on the new Limited Edition?

  1. The new collection is the worst ever. Most items look like freebies, and on top of that they're very expensive. Stardoll sure know how to scam their young members

I do this all the time, I'm just like "I am never gonna wear this".

I also agree with the Anonymous - this collection is shit. I only bought a couple of things.

LE get's worse as each collection goes by, eventually it will just be full of ugly sneakers and brown ball gowns.

  3. I am somewhat attached to the name LE in that I like to own at least 1 thing from each collection. If I like more than one things, I buy more. But I don't think I've ever bought more than 3 things from a collection. But even so, I agree that I get much more use out of cheep accessories.

  4. I think everyone says L.E. is shitty yet they are contradicting their selfs by buying some when its so "Shitty". I think we all want something "Limited" and not seasonal so we are unique. In my eyes you can never go wrong with accessories.. Dresses wise.. You'll only wear them once.

  5. The newest collection is just awful! The quality is going down, gradually.
Even the new Chanel Tribute is just.. terrible.
I am not very satisfied in the quality of the recent LE collections.

  6. If I am honest, I always thought the LE on Stardoll was shitty. I mean, I am not willing to spend real money to buy a piece of virtual crap on a website. Stardoll should just quit doing LE because, nr.1) It's crap. nr.2) They make children that are not aware what they are wasting their money on, buy the LE stuff.

  7. At first I looked at you post and was so confused since I hadn't been on Stardoll in a while but I checked out the LE since you had written about some.

So I mosey down to Stardoll.com and go to the Starplaza, long story short, I look at it it hurt my eyes.

Honestly the collection looks like Selena made it. It looks like her style totally.

  8. I agree with jackbitch and anonymous above. Worst collection ever. In fact, had I not read this post, I'd not even have known the LE was finally out.

I bought a few things, but by the time I got there, the one dress I wanted was already gone.

I have to admit that a couple of the things I did buy were just for re-sale later.

Thanks for this post, as I love it!!

  9. I bought 1 dress and a pair of gloves. I've never been a fan of LE, I only buy the cheapest items that I think are nice. This collection is a massive disappointment though. It seems as though the quality decreases as the years go by.

  10. Now if they would to bring back new collections of DKNY, Michael Kors, Vera, Chole, and a mix of small and big name brands. Now I'd like that. Even though it would cost money for stardoll, they should try and reach out for other brands.

  11. I don't like any of the items and I missed the release as I was at school :( At least I had no reason to be downhearted.

  12. I don't like anything.
Because non-SS can buy now, it's hard to get anything!
I logged on and there is pretty much nothing left to buy. Don't really like the collection tbh.

  13. amen to that. being a nonSS everytime LE was released i would usually observe and just gawk at the clothing [i would be envious too]...but this time around it was more like glazing through the store and then going back to my suite.

  14. I didnt buy any cuz I'm not on SD anymore. I lost interest in LE when they released the decor collection. I was like
"Really stardoll, really?!" I haven't bought any LE since then, even in the bazaars

  15. About me, the latest LE collections this year have not been what I always dreamed of. I have had some articles of the old collection "black gold". After that, it was disappointing. In the collection "feather" and "multicolor" the brightness of the clothes began to disappear. From that moment I began to buy in a meaningful way. I tried to track down the clothes that I liked really. Then I compared them and eliminate them in turn, to buy only what I really liked.
When I remember all those years that I struggled to buy just one or two things, and that now that I'm able to buy all that I want, they show us that quality: upset.
Sometimes some cheaper clothing are worthy of a LE Collection!!!
