Change

Hello! I'm Pandora, my username on Stardoll is Pettiskirt. I've been a member of Stardoll on and off on multiple accounts since June 2008. I've changed a lot since then, but Stardoll has been there as Nightwish replaced the Jonas Brothers and Doctor Who replaced Hannah Montana. Now, I'm not saying the site hasn't changed along with me, because it has. Stores like DKNY and Elle have left the Starplaza, LE appeared, and with it came a mad rush to lighten our purses in hopes of getting the pixels, and let's not forget the makeover of 2010! Very little stayed stable. That's just the way life is. One of the things that never really changed, though, was the starpoint system.
Now, I don't consider myself very bad with change. I don't like it at first, but if you give awhile, I can adjust to just about anything. That being said, today I logged onto my account and was surprised by the little bar above my username. It took me quite awhile to understand what had happened. At first I was upset, starpoints were good. There wasn't much with the nice little system they had. There was no reason to change it. I went about, earning my starcoins as I usually would, and discovered that the level system wasn't bad. Stardoll had fixed it's problem with the starpoints, where you had to log out and then back in to get your rewards once you reached a new goal. It gives you your hair and stuff on its own.
Now, I'm not saying I'm in love with the levels, because I'm not. I still think the change was unnecessary. What it did do was make me wonder about why people can get upset over changes that may not matter too much, or even be better than what they previously had. Why don't they give it a chance? I think the answer is really obvious. People just like what they're used to. The familiarity is comforting, much like a favorite stuffed animal or blanket to a child.
If any of you have differing opinions or explanations to the subject of change and reactions to it, please tell me. I'm really excited to hear what you have to say. Probably more excited than I should.

  5. I think this post was unorganized, none the less boring (no offense here). I would have at least liked some pictures, and better word choice.

  6. I agree with your opinion, but as some others said your layout needs some improvement.
