What's Wrong with Advertising Oneself?

"What a dumb title!" is what you're thinking and coming from a writer like me, who failed at advertising before, you must be cursing right now.

but seriously....
What's wrong with advertising oneself?

You might say that the writer is just using the blog to advertise his/her projects, well doesn't the blog uses the writers too?
The blog needs the writers for it to be active and have a lot of readers while the writers need to be part of a blog to be able to showcase their skills.
The whole blog and the writers are in a relationship and in every relationship, the ones involved should benefit each other.

"You're just famewhoring" some of you might say.
Some people are advertising themselves or their projects to get fame, but not ALL are like that.
Some may want to prove himself/herself to others.
And if we do want fame.... who doesn't?

We all know that our job is to inform the readers, doesn't advertising our projects informs you about ourselves.
Gosh! give us some recognition.

Speaking of advertising, here's one from me
Blonde Collection is my newest clothing line

Dollywood's gates to glory is so hard to get in, but is it worth it?

  8. Those anonymous comments are just silly, there's no need for all the insults. I partly disagree, not everyone likes fame but I also don't think anyones a famewhore they'res just having fun. Everyone advertises themselves in different ways from the way they dress to how they speak. "If you don't blow your trumpet, who will blow it for you?". Great designs by the way, I design too but I don't sell mine.

  9. I love this post. You're very smart to take advantage of your position. I don't think Anonymous knows what a famewhore is. Obviously she is not one herself because she's cowardly posting her dumbass comments without leaving her name.

IMHO, all these Anonymous posters need to be ignored. Hardened your heart, eh?

Oh, and I had a very difficult time even seeing your collection. The jpegs are way too small. But from what I could see, it's really not bad. Is there any way to see them larger?

  10. I don't think the stardesign features shows enough talent. The shapes, colours & everything is limited. And the clothes patterns are either ugly or hardly changed.

    Thanks!

Trust me. i'm trying to ignore anonymous comments, but they're like mosquitoes that keep on sucking my precious blood

You can click the pictures on the blog to make it larger :)
or you could visit my suite and see my designs located in the "evening falls" room

    Thanks again :D

  12. I think you can advertise for yourself to an extent. If you over-use it for your own personal advertisements it would be then using your place as a writer not to entertain but to pester others into constantly going to your projects and not something that might matter more, especially when you have loads of topics to choose from.

  13. I don't mean to be offensive but all the way through the post i was thinking WTF! Your grammar is terrible and I really could not get the gist of the post. I hate advertising.

  14. I agree with AbiiBabeh..x, the way you write is sloppy and distracts from the point of your post, which seems to be defending advertising so that you could then advertise something. On blogs I don't think it's what people do so much as HOW they do it. If you want to advertise something you're working on then fine, but do it in an interesting and entertaining way. Lecturing people who criticize those that abuse their blog privileges by mostly writing about themselves and their projects (like you do) so that you can then promote some clothing line is not interesting or entertaining, it's just obnoxious.

  16. I don't wanna be mean... This is just an advice, but your clothing line is not... really interesting as good clothes. I wouldn't like to wear it. I know how it's difficult to make a Line but you really I think that you should put more effort into your already good posts to show us AMAZING posts ! Or just work a bit more you fashion line. Choose your side, such as Lolita !...

  17. I don't agree with the negative comments. I said earlier you had great designs but you've said you'll ignore all anonymous comments so, goodbye.

You must have noticed some of those who have blogger accounts don't agree with you as well not just anonymous ones.

  18. Someone can advertise themself, once or twice. But anymore, and just, ugh..

  19. You should listen to people. Comments coming from anonymous comments are still valid feedback. There's a graceful way of promoting. Not as blatant as you do on here. The owners of the blog have such patience for your immature and famewhorish ways.

You do not blog because you want to promote yourself Stacy. You blog because you want to write. If you will become famous through MDM that's because people love to read what you write... and not because you promote yourself all the time.

That fashion line of yours is just out of taste and out of place. Learn to act classy and act as if you belong to this blog. Unitl then, just GO fuck yourself.

  20. Comments didn't harden your heart by the way. It just made your face thicker.

  21. Noelle, you need to fire some fucking writers and some some more who really know how to write and are passionate about writing. People enjoy reading MDM everuday as you can see by your fast growing followers. Dont' fail your readers because of people like Stacy.

Half your writers aren't even writing anymore! Majority of them just deserve to write in that shitty blog of that Ruubin girl.

  23. Regina@bi@tch, I agree with you everyone's comments are valid. How can you discriminate against those who have no blogger accounts? Not all anonymous comments are nasty & rude & not all blogger comments are nice. Remove the anonymous option from your blog if you don't like them. I think you should say "I'll ignore all the negative comments".
